Lonnie Wheatley, CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (November 22, 2020) – Ricky Thornton, Jr., finished off a sweep of Central Arizona Speedway’s three-day Seventh Annual Desert Thunder Nationals by thundering to victory lane in Sunday afternoon’s 25-lap IMCA Modified feature event atop the 3/8-mile clay oval.
While Thornton, Jr., completed the trifecta, Bo Partain foiled a second consecutive Cody Thompson sweep attempt in the IMCA Modified ranks with Donald Comstock besting the Pure Stocks while Shon Deskins and Tuesday Calderwood claimed victory honors in the Power 600 Micro Sprints.

(November 21, 2020) – Ricky Thornton, Jr., and Cody Thompson stayed perfect in Seventh Annual Desert Thunder Nationals racing action atop the 3/8-mile Central Arizona Speedway clay oval by topping Saturday night’s IMCA Modified and IMCA Sport Modified feature events.
While Thornton, Jr., made it two in a row in the IMCA Modifieds and 2019 IMCA Sport Modified sweeper Cody Thompson made it two in a row as well, Nelson Morrow took Pure Stock honors with Cameron La Rose and Corbin Rueschenberg best in the Power 600 Micro Sprint ranks as 141 total cars took in the second of the weekend’s three Desert Thunder Nationals
Lonnie Wheatley, CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (November 20, 2020) – Ricky Thornton, Jr., kicked off the Seventh annual Desert Thunder Nationals by racing to victory lane in Friday night’s 25-lap IMCA Modified feature event atop the 3/8-mile Central Arizona Speedway clay oval.
While Thornton, Jr., bested the Modified ranks, Cody Thompson bounced back from heat race issues to take IMCA Sport Modified honors, Steve Shumaker scored the Pure Stock win and Cameron LaRose and J.W. Henderson claimed Power 600 Micro Sprint honors as 128 cars filled the pit area for the first of three days of Desert Thunder Nationals action.

Lonnie Wheatley, CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (November 12, 2020) – Central Arizona Speedway will put the wraps on an abbreviated 2020 racing season with next weekend’s Seventh Annal Desert Nationals atop the 3/8-mile clay oval.
Following a Thursday night practice session from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Seventh Annual Desert Nationals kicks off with the first of three consecutive rounds of action on Friday night, November 20, at 7:00 p.m.
Round Two takes place on Saturday night with the green flag flying at 6:00 p.m. with the Desert Thunder Nationals then coming to a conclusion with Sunday’s November 22 tilt that goes green at 1:00 p.m.

It is Big O Tires Night at the Races at Central Arizona Speedway on both Friday and Saturday night.
The IMCA Modifieds will headline both nights of racing action with the IMCA Sport Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Bombers and Power 600 Series Micro Sprints in action as well.

Lonnie Wheatley, CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (September 1, 2020) – The 3/8-mile Central Arizona Speedway fires back into action with a doubleheader this weekend with racing action on both Saturday and Sunday.
And it does so in grand style with the inaugural pair of events for the newly-formed CAS Sprint Cars along with Non-Wing Power 600 Micro Sprints and Bombers.
Both nights of racing action will go green at 7:00 p.m.

Each night of action will offer up
Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced on Sunday the closure of schools, and mass gatherings, events with 50 or more people will be canceled.
This includes: conferences, festivals, parades, concerts, sporting events, weddings and other types of assemblies. This recommendation does not apply to the day to day operation of organizations such as institutes of higher learning or businesses and applies to events of 50 people or more.
Central Arizona Speedway will cancel the 3/21 & 3/28 events. Hopefully we will be able to resume our schedule on 4/11 for Hippity Hoppity Easter when the USAC 410 Sprint Cars return along with the IMCA Sport Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Bombers and Power
Lonnie Wheatley, CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (March 7, 2020) – Sterling Cling raced to “Cotton Classic” victory lane on Saturday night as the San Tan Ford ASCS Desert Non-Wing Sprint Car series made its second stop of the season atop the 3/8-mile Central Arizona Speedway clay oval.
While Cling topped the Sprint Car portion, other Saturday night “Cotton Classic” winners included Kelsie Foley in IMCA Modifieds, Donald Comstock in Pure Stocks, Nick Posey in Bombers, Caleb Stelzig in Power 600 Micro Sprints and J.W. Henderson in Power 600 Restricted “A” Class Micros

Saturday’s card will feature the San Tan Ford ASCS Desert Non-Wing Sprint Cars along with IMCA Modifieds, Pure Stocks, Bombers and Power 600 Micro Sprint Cars.
Racing action will get under way at 7:00 p.m.
